Urgent Contract AI Service Designer (2B) – Active Security Cleared
Role Purpose
The AI Service Designer is responsible for designing end-to-end services that leverage data, AI, and automation to improve outcomes for consumers, and market participants. The role focuses on understanding user and organisational needs, shaping AI-enabled services, and ensuring solutions are usable, ethical, and aligned to Ofgem's Responsible AI and Digital strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of AI-enabled services from discovery through to live, ensuring they meet user needs and business outcomes
- Map current and future service journeys, identifying opportunities to embed AI, automation, and data-driven decision-making
- Conduct user research and translate insights into service designs, prototypes, and design artefacts
- Identify where AI can improve service efficiency, quality, or customer experience
- Work with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to embed AI solutions into operational services
- Embed Responsible AI principles including fairness, transparency, and accountability into service design
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and support agile delivery
- Define service performance metrics and continuously improve services using data and feedback
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong experience designing end-to-end services in complex organisations
- Skilled in service design methods such as journey mapping and service blueprints
- Understanding of AI, data, and automation capabilities and limitations
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary environments
- Understanding of Responsible AI and ethical considerations
Desirable Skills
- Experience with generative AI or Copilot-style tools
- Public sector or regulatory experience
- Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design
- Experience with service performance measurement
