AOG Operator
Location: Heathrow Area
Salary: £32,000 – £45,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday (08:00–17:00 or 10:00–19:00)
The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced AOG Operator to join a growing specialist logistics organisation supporting time-critical freight movements across the aviation and freight forwarding sectors.
This role is ideal for someone with experience handling urgent shipments, customs processes, and international freight movements who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment where customer service and attention to detail are paramount.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate time-critical and AOG shipments across air, road, and sea freight services.
- Arrange freight bookings and ensure shipments are moved in accordance with customer requirements and operational deadlines.
- Prepare and process shipping documentation, including Air Waybills (AWBs), customs declarations, and transit documentation.
- Monitor shipments from collection through to final delivery, providing regular updates to customers and stakeholders.
- Review import and export documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Source freight rates and routing solutions from carriers and suppliers.
- Prepare quotations and support commercial activities where required.
- Ensure accurate job costing and maintain operational records within internal systems.
- Prioritise multiple urgent shipments while maintaining service levels and attention to detail.
- Manage shared inboxes and respond to enquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Liaise with airlines, hauliers, overseas partners, warehouse teams, and internal departments to ensure smooth execution of shipments.
Requirements
- Previous experience within AOG, aerospace logistics, freight forwarding, or another time-critical logistics environment.
- Strong understanding of air freight operations, with knowledge of road and sea freight advantageous.
- Experience handling import/export documentation and customs processes.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and freight forwarding systems.
- Full UK driving licence with fewer than six penalty points.
Additional Requirements
- Five-year checkable employment history with no gaps exceeding 28 consecutive days.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Ability to satisfy aviation security screening requirements.
