Shine Partnerships is a growing provider of specialist supported living services for adults with forensic histories, complex mental health needs, dual diagnosis, personality disorders, neurodevelopmental conditions, substance misuse issues and other complex presentations.
We are looking to recruit an experienced Area Managers to provide operational leadership across a portfolio of services in North London.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced leader who is passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care whilst developing teams and driving service excellence.
Working Pattern
- Full-time position.
- Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm. (Flexibility required)
- Participation in the management on-call rota is required (approximately once every 5–6 weeks).
- As a senior operational leader, flexibility is required to support services and respond to urgent operational issues when necessary.
About the Role
As an Area Manager, you will oversee approximately 4–5 services.
You will work closely with Team Leaders, Project Coordinators and Assistant Managers who provide day-to-day operational support within the services.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can balance operational oversight, quality assurance, staff development, safeguarding, risk management and stakeholder engagement.
You will report directly to the senior management team and play a key role in supporting the continued growth and success of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational leadership across multiple supported living services.
- Support and develop Team Leaders, Project Coordinators and Assistant Managers.
- Ensure services deliver safe, effective and person-centred support.
- Monitor compliance with CQC standards, safeguarding requirements and organisational policies.
- Conduct audits, service reviews and quality assurance visits.
- Lead and support investigations, safeguarding concerns, complaints and serious incidents.
- Support managers in managing complex risks and challenging situations.
- Build positive relationships with commissioners, social workers, probation services, community mental health teams and other professionals.
- Support recruitment, performance management and staff development.
- Monitor service performance and implement improvement plans where required.
- Manage staffing resources and agency usage effectively.
- Participate in the management on-call rota.
- Provide operational leadership and support during service challenges and critical incidents when required.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a leader who:
- Has experience managing services within mental health, forensic, supported living, residential or complex care settings.
- Understands safeguarding, risk management and regulatory compliance.
- Can confidently support managers and staff through complex situations.
- Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Is organised, solution-focused and able to prioritise effectively.
- Can adapt to changing service needs and operational demands.
- Demonstrates flexibility and a willingness to support services when required.
- Is comfortable working across multiple services and supporting a variety of teams.
- Leads by example and promotes a positive workplace culture.
- Understands that health and social care operates 24 hours a day and can provide leadership support when operational needs arise.
- Is willing to participate in the management on-call rota and occasional out-of-hours support where necessary.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ management experience within health and social care.
- Experience managing staff teams and operational service delivery.
- Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding, risk management and quality assurance.
- Experience supporting individuals with complex mental health needs, forensic histories, substance misuse issues and other complex presentations.
- Experience managing investigations, complaints, safeguarding concerns and serious incidents.
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between services.
Desirable
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one.
- Experience managing multiple services.
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support, trauma-informed practice and psychologically informed approaches.
