The Role – ASD Teaching Assistant

As an ASD Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a KS1 pupil with ASD, helping them access learning and participate fully in classroom activities. Working alongside the class teacher and SENCO, you will deliver personalised support strategies that encourage communication, independence, and social development. You will build a positive relationship with the pupil, monitor progress, and help create a calm and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate will be patient, adaptable, and committed to supporting children with SEN. Previous experience working with pupils with ASD is essential.

This inclusive primary school is located in Islington and is a 6 minute walk from the nearest train station. Catering for pupils aged 3-11, the school is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where every child can thrive. Staff work collaboratively to deliver high-quality teaching and tailored SEN support for pupils with needs including ASD and SEMH. The school promotes respect, inclusion and positive learning experiences and has been rated 'Good' by Ofsted.
