Assistant Accountant- Hillsborough
Reed Recruitment is delighted to be working with a successful and established local Hillsborough organisation. Our client has an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This role will support the Financial Controller with the day-to-day operations of the accounts department and month-end procedures. This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail and strong analytical skills, who thrives in a dynamic environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and variance analysis.
- Prepare weekly Sales Reports for management.
- Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes, both internally and for the Group Parent Company, including flash forecasts at month-end and year-end.
- Manage monthly Balance Sheet control accounts and perform reconciliations.
- Assist with monthly reporting to the finance team in the Group parent company.
- Conduct monthly bank account reconciliations.
- Handle VAT returns, including liaison with HMRC.
- Manage Intrastat and EC Sales, including monthly returns.
- Prepare monthly TSS reporting.
- Assist with year-end accounts preparation, including liaison with external auditors.
- Oversee sales and purchase ledgers, posting/raising invoices as required.
- Support company HR and payroll.
- Manage company-owned fleet and hire vehicles, including operating costs and depreciation calculations.
- Update the Company’s Fixed Asset Register monthly.
- Assist with CSRD reporting to the Group parent company.
- Provide support to other areas of the Finance department as required.
- Collaborate with all departments, particularly on projects being explored or implemented.
- Undertake any other duties consistent with the purpose of this job or to support the needs of the business.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience within a similar finance role.
- ATI/AAT, QBE or part-qualified.
- Experience working with stock and job costing is desired.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team.
- Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of UK and ROI VAT.
- Specific equipment training will be provided.
