About the Role
Nigel Wright are delighted to be supporting a well-established and respected professional services firm in the North West with the appointment of an Assistant Accountant.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative finance team, offering broad exposure across client accounts and the opportunity to develop technical skills within a structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing year-end statutory accounts for a portfolio of clients including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Completing and submitting VAT returns accurately and within required deadlines
- Preparing personal tax returns (SA100), ensuring accurate calculation of liabilities
- Producing corporation tax computations and CT600 returns in line with HMRC requirements
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients, gathering information and responding to queries in a timely and professional manner
- Supporting audit assignments, including participation in fieldwork and assisting senior team members
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records using cloud-based accounting systems
- Identifying potential tax and accounting planning opportunities and raising these with senior colleagues
- Providing guidance and support to junior team members, contributing to a positive and collaborative team culture
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in a finance or accounting role
- AAT qualification (or actively studying towards AAT/ACCA/CIMA)
- Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
- Good working knowledge of Excel and accounting systems (e.g. Sage, Xero)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach
