Assistant Accountant
Location: Colchester (Hybrid – minimum 2 days in office)
Job Type: Full-time
The Role We are looking for an ambitious and detail oriented Assistant Accountant to join a dynamic finance team. Reporting to the Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, while ensuring strong balance sheet control and integrity.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, post, reconcile and analyse monthly management accounts for revenue and direct costs
- Perform timely balance sheet reconciliations to a high standard, ensuring full compliance with internal controls and policies
- Support mid-month processes, including:
- Team rota tasks
- Monitoring and responding to shared inboxes
- Reviewing supplier invoice coding
- Reconciling direct profit and loss accounts
- Processing intercompany transactions
- Assist with financial analysis and respond to queries from internal stakeholders
- Communicate financial insights to support understanding of business performance
- Investigate and resolve ad-hoc financial issues
- Provide support across the team as required, including covering workloads when needed
Skills & Experience
- Studying towards ACCA or CIMA (or AAT Level 4 qualified with relevant experience)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and priorities
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Experience with SAP (or similar ERP systems) is advantageous
