Assistant Payroll Manager
Wantage | 3-Month Contract (initially) | £17.95ph – £20.51ph
Our client, a large international manufacturing organisation based in Wantage, is seeking an experienced Assistant Payroll Manager to join their team on an initial 3-month contract.
This is a hands-on role supporting the delivery of an accurate and efficient payroll service within a busy, fast-paced environment. Working closely with the Payroll Manager, you'll play a key role in payroll processing, compliance, employee query resolution, and day-to-day payroll operations.
Key responsibilities
- Supporting end-to-end payroll processing
- Managing salary changes, overtime, bonuses, and deductions
- Resolving payroll queries and discrepancies
- Assisting with HMRC compliance, RTI submissions, and year-end activities
- Preparing payroll reports, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Supporting and guiding payroll team members
Key skills required
- Previous UK payroll experience is essential
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
- Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, Sage, SAP, or similar
- Strong Excel and data management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- The ability to work effectively to tight deadlines
