Assistant Payroll Manager (6-Month Temporary Contract)

Robert Half Ltd are pleased to be working with a business based in Wantage that are looking for an Assistant Payroll Manager to support the delivery of accurate, compliant payroll operations across multiple UK payrolls on a 6-month temporary contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Support monthly payroll processing across multiple UK sites
- Process payroll changes including pay, bonuses, deductions, pensions, and statutory payments
- Complete reconciliations, variance analysis, journals, and control account checks
- Ensure compliance with HMRC, RTI, pensions auto-enrolment, and year-end reporting (P60s, P11Ds)
- Maintain payroll records in systems such as ADP, Sage, Workday, or SAP
- Resolve payroll queries and monitor shared inboxes
- Support system upgrades, testing, and process improvements
- Assist and guide payroll administrators
Key Requirements
- Previous payroll experience in high-volume, multi-site environments
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation
- Strong Excel and payroll system skills
- High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
