Assistant Principal – High Needs, SEND & ALS
Location: West London (cross-college)
Salary: £73,796 – £85,519 per annum (including London Weighting)
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic senior leader to take on the role of Assistant Principal – High Needs, SEND & Additional Learning Support (ALS).
This is a key leadership position, responsible for driving the strategic direction, quality and growth of SEND and High Needs provision across a multi-site further education environment.
You will play a critical role in shaping inclusive education, ensuring outstanding learner outcomes, and developing a sustainable and high-performing support model.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy and delivery of SEND, High Needs and ALS provision across the organisation
- Take full ownership of quality of education, learner outcomes and progression for SEND learners
- Oversee funding strategy, including High Needs and ALS budgets and Local Authority engagement
- Drive Ofsted readiness, quality improvement and compliance across all provision
- Lead and develop senior teams, ensuring high performance and consistency across sites
- Build strong partnerships with Local Authorities, employers and external stakeholders
- Ensure provision supports learner independence, employability and positive destinations
What We’re Looking For
- Significant senior leadership experience within SEND / ALS in Further Education
- Strong track record of leading large-scale provision and driving improvement
- Experience managing budgets, funding and strategic growth
- In-depth knowledge of SEND Code of Practice, Ofsted and FE frameworks
- Ability to lead in a complex, fast-paced environment and make high-level decisions
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
Qualifications
- Degree qualified
- Recognised teaching qualification (Level 5 or above)
- Evidence of continued professional development in leadership
