We are working with a London-based NHS Trust to recruit an Assistant Trust Secretary to support the delivery of high-quality corporate governance services across the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to Board-level operations, governance processes, and regulatory compliance within a complex healthcare setting.
For candidates with substantial governance experience, particularly within the NHS or another highly regulated environment, appointment at Band 7 may be considered.
The Role
As Assistant Trust Secretary, you will play a key role in supporting the Trust's governance framework and ensuring the smooth operation of Board and Committee processes.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the administration of Board, Committee and Council of Governor meetings
- Preparing agendas, collating papers and ensuring timely distribution of meeting documentation
- Taking accurate minutes and monitoring the completion of actions
- Maintaining governance registers, records and statutory documentation
- Supporting compliance with regulatory, constitutional and governance requirements
- Assisting with the preparation of governance reports and annual submissions
- Supporting governor engagement, membership activities and election processes
- Working closely with Executive Directors, Non-Executive Directors and senior stakeholders across the organisation
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of governance systems and processes
About You
We are looking for an individual who is highly organised, detail-oriented and confident working with senior stakeholders.
You will have:
- Previous experience within NHS governance, corporate governance or company secretariat functions
- Experience supporting committees, boards or senior management teams
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- Strong written communication skills, including minute-taking and report preparation
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines
- High levels of discretion and experience handling confidential information
