An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced AVP Financial Controller to join a prestigious financial institution in Jersey. This pivotal role is designed for someone who thrives on ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, integrity, and reliability in financial operations. What you'll do:
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards, rules, and regulations.
- Support the identification, assessment, and mitigation of financial risks by providing insightful analysis and regular reports to senior colleagues.
- Develop and maintain robust systems of internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraudulent misreporting, and ensure the accuracy of all financial data.
- Design, implement, and update comprehensive financial policies and procedures to promote consistent practices throughout the organisation.
- Manage the selection, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of financial systems and software applications in collaboration with IT teams to ensure seamless integration across enterprise platforms.
- Prepare statutory and regulatory reports for submission to authorities while assisting other departments in their own regulatory reporting responsibilities.
- Coordinate effectively with external auditors and regulatory bodies during audits or examinations to ensure compliance and transparency.
- Advise on complex issues by consulting with People Leaders to resolve escalated matters related to control or governance.
- Lead a team responsible for delivering complex tasks by setting clear objectives, coaching employees towards those goals, appraising performance outcomes, and determining appropriate rewards.
- Engage in detailed analysis of data from multiple sources-both internal and external-to solve problems creatively while communicating complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
What you bring:
- You are a qualified accountant (such as ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with proven experience within Financial Services; Private Bank or Wealth Management experience is desirable but not essential.
- Your background includes hands-on involvement in Financial Control functions-particularly exposure to regulatory reporting-or you have gained similar expertise through Business Analyst roles supporting Finance teams.
- You demonstrate ownership over financial data integrity, controls frameworks, regulatory or external reporting processes, as well as delivery of systems or process change initiatives within large organisations.
- Your approach is resilient and adaptable; you are comfortable navigating complex environments where priorities may shift rapidly without losing focus on quality outcomes.
- You possess excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to collaborate effectively across departments while building trust-based relationships with colleagues at all levels.
- Your communication style is clear yet sensitive; you can convey intricate information-whether technical or confidential-in ways that resonate with diverse audiences.
- You have experience leading teams or guiding collaborative assignments by setting objectives, coaching others towards success, appraising performance fairly, and recognising achievements appropriately.
