HL7 Interface Developer

A new exciting permanent opportunity has become available for a skilled and dedicated HL7 Interface Developer to join a leading business in the development of clinical coding within the NHS. This role involves working on both new and existing projects, focusing on the development, maintenance, and updating of our software products, with a particular emphasis on HL7 and related interface development.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Extend HL7 interfaces as required by business and product expansion.
- Develop non-HL7 data transport interfaces as needed.
- Assist in the development and design of software units and applications to meet specifications.
- Develop software units and applications according to design specifications.
- Participate in the production of technical documentation.
- Write efficient, well-structured code, conforming to current standards.
- Contribute to improvements in the development process.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- A university degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related science subject.
- Strong understanding of HL7 and FHIR message exchange protocols.
- Sound understanding of NHS data standards.
- Expertise in .NET, C#, C++.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as SVN, GIT.
- Some familiarity with SQL Database engines (MS SQL Server preferred), Stored Procedures, and Optimisation.
- At least 2 years of relevant development industry experience.
- Experience in an agile development environment is desirable.
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience with clinical safety standards (DCB0129/0160, IEC 62304).
- Knowledge of the Healthcare Industry and NHS.
- Exposure to medical device software or diagnostic platforms.
- Unit testing framework experience (e.g., MSTest, NUnit, NSubstitute).
