An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bids & Pursuits Manager to join a dynamic BD team at a leading law firm. This role sits at the heart of business development, leading strategic bids and pursuits.
You will play a critical role in driving revenue growth by developing compelling, client-focused proposals and shaping winning strategies in collaboration with partners and senior stakeholders.
As a Bids & Pursuits Manager, you will lead the end-to-end bid lifecycle on complex, high-value opportunities. Working closely with legal teams and business development professionals, you will define pursuit strategy, develop clear value propositions, and ensure delivery of high-quality, differentiated submissions.
You will also act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders—coaching, influencing, and embedding best practice across all stages of the pursuit process.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full lifecycle of bids and pursuits, from qualification through to submission and post-bid review
- Develop and drive winning strategies, including clear value propositions and win themes
- Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to shape commercial and competitive positioning
- Coach and influence stakeholders on bid strategy, messaging, and approach
- Ensure excellence in writing, editing, and presentation of proposal materials
- Analyse bid performance, feedback, and trends to continuously improve win rates
- Champion best practice in bid methodology, governance, and content management
- Conduct peer reviews to enhance clarity, persuasiveness, and overall quality
- Mentor and support junior team members, including Bids & Pursuits Executives
- Contribute to the development of bid tools, systems, and content libraries
About You
Essential Skills & Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in bids, pursuits, or proposals within legal or professional services
- Proven track record of leading and winning complex, strategic opportunities
- Strong stakeholder management and project management capabilities
- Experience managing multi-stakeholder, cross-border bids with tight deadlines
- Ability to develop and articulate compelling win strategies and differentiators
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex content
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word and PowerPoint)
- Experience coaching or mentoring junior team members
- Degree-level education or equivalent experience
