Introduction
Acorn by Synergie is recruiting HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientists to support a major laboratory transformation project within an NHS laboratory in Milton Keynes.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Biomedical Scientists, Clinical Chemistry Biomedical Scientists, HCPC Registered BMS, Medical Laboratory Scientists or NHS Biomedical Scientists to play a key role in the implementation of new laboratory testing equipment.
Working as part of a specialist laboratory team, you'll support the installation, validation and verification of new analytical platforms, ensuring all laboratory analysers are fully operational and performing to the required standards before going live. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a significant NHS laboratory project while working within a fast-paced Clinical Chemistry environment.
Key Duties
- Support the installation, validation and verification of new laboratory analysers and analytical platforms.
- Analyse validation and verification data to ensure equipment performance meets required laboratory standards.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during analyser implementation.
- Work closely with Biomedical Scientists, laboratory staff and project teams to ensure a smooth transition to new laboratory systems.
- Maintain compliance with laboratory quality management systems, policies and standard operating procedures.
- Support laboratory quality assurance activities and demonstrate an understanding of UKAS accreditation requirements.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with NHS laboratory standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and validation records throughout the implementation process.
Requirements
- HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist (BMS) is essential.
- Previous experience working as a Biomedical Scientist within an NHS or clinical laboratory environment.
- Strong experience in Clinical Chemistry.
- Experience supporting analyser installation, validation and verification projects.
- Good understanding of laboratory quality systems and UKAS accreditation requirements.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Beckman Coulter platforms, including DXI 9000 and AU analysers.
- Alternatively, experience with Roche Cobas or Siemens Healthineers analytical platforms.
- Additional experience within Haematology and/or Blood Transfusion would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary laboratory team.
