Accounting Practice Bookkeeper (Temp to Perm)

A well-respected and established Accountancy Practice based across Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their busy team on a temp-to-perm basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a bookkeeping professional who enjoys working with a varied client portfolio and is looking to join a supportive and professional environment.
As a Bookkeeper, you will play a key role in supporting a range of clients with their day-to-day financial and bookkeeping requirements, ensuring accurate financial records and strong client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing sales and purchase ledger transactions
- Bank reconciliations and cashbook management
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Posting journals and maintaining accurate financial records
- VAT return preparation and submission
- Credit card and expense reconciliations
- Assisting with month-end bookkeeping activities
- Maintaining client bookkeeping records and resolving discrepancies
- Producing management information and financial reports where required
- Liaising with clients to obtain financial information and answer bookkeeping queries
- Supporting accountants with year-end preparation and audit requirements
- Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and procedures
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous bookkeeping experience, ideally gained within an accountancy practice environment
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial processes
- Experience with Xero and/or QuickBooks (highly desirable)
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple client accounts and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills with a professional and client-focused approach
