Job Title: Business Development Director (UK)

As part of Schroders, a global asset manager with a heritage spanning over 200 years, the firm combines specialist impact investing capabilities with institutional-grade infrastructure and governance.
Reporting to the firm’s Global Head of Business Development, the Business Development Director for the UK will originate, develop, and manage institutional and professional client relationships in the UK. The role covers the full business development cycle, from identifying and cultivating new opportunities to expanding existing relationships and identifying new strategic partnerships, with a core focus on private credit, fixed income and private equity strategies. The Sales Director will act as a trusted advisor to the firm’s clients and prospects, while operating in a global matrix environment
Key Responsibilities
- Drive growth through sales and fundraising through generating new opportunities and securing new business with new and existing clients in the UK.
- Lead the origination and execution of business development initiatives, covering all aspects of the sales process to ensure successful investor conversion and onboarding.
- Partner closely with the Investment teams to ensure a consistent, strategic approach to client engagement, and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate effectively across functions (Investment, Operations, Legal, Marketing, Communications)to deliver integrated impact investing solutions and resolve client issues and questions.
- Establish long-term relationships built on trust and expand contacts with key decision-makers at institutional investors, banks, family offices, wealth managers, consultants, and other stakeholders.
- Capture client needs and requirements, providing market intelligence to internal teams, and ensure our solutions and our funds are proactively positioned and presented.
- Maintain high visibility and engagement within the internal client organisations and the broader industry, representing the firm at conferences, seminars, and other key events.
Required Skills and Experience
- You bring substantial experience in business development, sales, and client relationship management, ideally within private markets, fixed income, impact/ESG, or fund management.
- You have a clear and proven track record of originating and closing new business with leading institutional and professional clients, including fundraising and negotiation experience.
- You bring an established network across UK institutional investors and professional intermediary investors, with the credibility to anticipate client needs and convert opportunities into long-term relationships. You know how to position strategies, communicate investment insights clearly and present effectively to investment committees and senior decision-makers.
- You are effective at managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment and comfortable working with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- You operate well in a matrix organisation, build strong internal networks, and execute independently while leveraging broader group resources. Deep understanding of private markets dynamics, sustainable investment trends and impact, and/or Emerging Markets is desirable.
