DiSRUPT Agency
Business Development Manager – North of England
Location: Manchester / Leeds (Hybrid) | Salary: £50,000–£60,000 + Annual bonus paid quarterly + private healthcare + Benefits | Type: Full-Time, Permanent
About the Role
Are you a driven, commercially-minded sales professional with a passion for building lasting relationships in the health insurance or employee benefits space? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-growing, innovative business at the heart of the UK’s health and wellbeing market.
Based from the North of England (Manchester or Leeds), you’ll take ownership of a defined territory, growing and managing a panel of intermediary and broker partners while also developing direct client relationships. You’ll be the face of the business in your region — a trusted expert who partners genuinely flourish with.
This role is home and field-based, with regular travel across the UK for client meetings and industry events (including occasional overnight stays). You’ll also spend time in our London office a couple of times per month or as the role requires.
What You’ll Do
New Business & Pipeline Development
• Identify, target and onboard new intermediary and broker partners to build a high-performing distribution panel
• Develop and execute a personal sales strategy focused on sustainable, profitable growth
• Build and maintain a healthy pipeline, converting opportunities at a consistently strong rate
• Support seamless client onboarding, both onsite and remotely
Relationship Management
• Build deep, trusted relationships with intermediaries at all levels — from advisers through to leadership teams
• Train, educate and enable partners so they can confidently position your products to their clients
• Run compelling joint demos and client pitches to drive conversion
• Develop ‘evangelists’ within your partner network who champion the business unprompted
• Forge and grow direct relationships with corporate organisations, large businesses and government bodies
Market Intelligence & Representation
• Stay ahead of competitor activity, pricing and product developments in the PMI and Employee Benefits market
• Feed market insight back to inform product, pricing and marketing strategy
• Represent the business at industry events, conferences and networking forums across the UK (including travel to London and Scotland)
• Work closely with marketing to amplify campaigns and generate leads through your network
CRM & Reporting Discipline
• Maintain a live, accurate pipeline in HubSpot — every meeting, opportunity and deal logged without exception
• Provide regular pipeline, forecast and activity updates to the Distribution Director
• Self-manage your portfolio to ensure consistent activity levels and commercial output
About You
You’re a self-starter who thrives in a field-based, autonomous role. You treat your territory like your own business — hunting for opportunities, building genuine relationships and seeing deals through to close. You have the drive and discipline to structure your own working day and deliver consistently, whether you’re at home, in a client’s office, or on the road.
Essential:
• Proven track record in B2B sales / Broking, business development or account management
• Experience in a self-directed, remote-first or field-based role
• Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills — credible from adviser to C-suite level
• Commercial acumen with a clear grasp of pipeline management and revenue forecasting
• CRM proficiency (HubSpot strongly preferred)
• Willingness and ability to travel across the UK, including London visits a couple of times per month, overnight stays and events as far as Scotland
• Drive, discipline and resilience to build and manage a large, varied portfolio of relationships
Desirable:
• Experience in health insurance, PMI, employee benefits or financial services
• An established network of PMI or Employee Benefit intermediary contacts
• Knowledge of FCA regulatory requirements in intermediary distribution
• Experience working in a scaling start-up or insurtech environment
What’s on Offer
• £50,000–£60,000 base salary with regular salary reviews
• Quarterly performance bonus (up to £5,000 per annum) paid quarterly
• Private health cover provided from day one
• Hybrid, flexible working from the North of England
• A genuine opportunity to make your mark in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial business
