A proven defence organisation, are seeking an experienced Buyer to work within an established procurement and supply chain function and support on key projects.
- Role: Buyer
- Duration: 7-9 month contract
- Pay: Up to £26 p/hr (Inside IR35)
- Location: Yeovil (Fully onsite for first few weeks before moving to 1 day per week)
In this role, you'll be responsible for managing purchase requisitions, raising purchase orders, liaising with suppliers, resolving order-related issues, and ensuring the smooth flow of materials and services to support operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process purchase requisitions accurately and efficiently
- Create, issue and manage purchase orders through SAP
- Monitor supplier acknowledgements and delivery commitments
- Resolve ordering, invoicing and delivery-related issues
- Work closely with internal stakeholders including Operations, Finance and Supply Chain teams
- Escalate commercial or contractual matters to the appropriate procurement specialists
- Support supplier performance and on-time delivery activities
- Maintain accurate procurement records and system data
- Assist with spot-buy activities, RFQs and supplier communications where required
This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional to join a busy purchasing team, supporting key projects through to early 2027.
Key Requirements:
- Experience in aerospace, defence, engineering or manufacturing environments
- Strong working knowledge of SAP
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Previous experience in a direct buying or purchasing role
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Exposure to Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes
- Experience dealing with suppliers and purchase order management
