Our client has an exciting new opportunity for a Buyer to join their Supply Chain team, based at their Bicester (BB) site. This role will support day-to-day purchasing activities across the business while working closely with, and deputising for, the Purchasing Manager.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Buyer with an FMCG background who is commercially minded, analytical, and driven by cost efficiency and supplier performance.
The Role
As Buyer, you will be responsible for continually reviewing supplier performance for cost and service, sourcing new and innovative materials, and ensuring purchasing activity aligns with business demand.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting departments with sundry and raw material purchasing
- Assisting the Purchasing Manager with supplier negotiations and contracts
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers and internal customers
- Aligning purchasing activity with demand forecasting and tracking performance metrics
- Analysing commodity market trends and monitoring price movements
- Identifying new, innovative, and cost-effective materials suitable for the business
- Managing the ERP/MRP system, ensuring accurate product setup and stock parameters
- Planning and coordinating the introduction of new raw materials to agreed deadlines
- Ensuring supplier compliance with quality and health & safety standards (e.g. BRCGS)
- Producing and maintaining supply chain reports
- Supporting Group Purchasing activities when required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience in production planning and purchasing within FMCG
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Confident communication, influencing, and negotiation skills
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Strong commercial awareness with a focus on cost control and efficiency
You will be a friendly and flexible team player who is equally comfortable working independently, able to manage pressure, and motivated to deliver results.
