My client is a genuine leader and multi award winner in their respective sector. Well established over many years of trading, with an expanding team. Due to significant recent project success they urgently seek a new CAD design engineer to join their existing team in Norwich. Supplying into the offshore industry sectors, their product range is huge and varied. Having invested heavily in R&D and emerging markets, they are now entering an exciting growth and scale-up phase to meet newly secured demand.
About the Role
If you are a detail-oriented and innovative CAD Design Engineer, wishing to work within a friendly and highly supportive team, with a strong emphasis on knowledge sharing, then please apply. The team you will be in are responsible for transforming conceptual ideas and calculations into precise technical drawings and 3D models. Your work will directly influence the engineering process, ensuring our clients technical solutions, and products are functional, cost-effective, and meet all safety standards.
Ideally you will have some exposure to stress analysis related project work.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop complex 3D models and detailed 2D technical drawings using industry-standard software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD or 3D CAD).
- Preparing high-quality CAD and GIS drawings to support land agreements, planning applications and project development
- Prototyping & Testing: Create digital simulations and physical prototypes to validate design performance and structural integrity.
- Product Lifecycle Management: Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manage design revisions within PDM/PLM systems.
- Problem Solving: Identify design flaws or "clashes" in early stages and provide creative engineering solutions.
- Keen to take part in design reviews.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Ideally a HND or Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field.
- Proficiency in either SolidWorks/Revit/3D CAD.
- Technically capable in understanding of engineering principles and processes.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy in creating technical documentation and layout drawings.
- Communication: Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-engineering stakeholders and clients.
Preferred Experience
- Ideally some project experience in offshore related projects.
