Hours: 7:30am – 11:30am and 3:00pm – 6:15pm
The Opportunity
We are looking for a proactive and hands-on School Caretaker to help maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment. Working closely with the Facilities Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day upkeep of the premises and grounds, ensuring facilities are well maintained and fully operational.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical maintenance skills, a strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out day-to-day repairs, maintenance and DIY tasks.
- Ensure buildings and grounds are clean, safe and well presented.
- Open and secure the site, monitoring security and reporting any concerns.
- Conduct regular health & safety, fire alarm, emergency lighting and water hygiene checks.
- Assist with minor refurbishment projects and preventative maintenance.
- Oversee contractors working on site and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
- Monitor heating, lighting and utility systems.
- Carry out grounds maintenance, litter picking and general outdoor upkeep.
- Support the setup of rooms, meetings, assemblies and school events.
- Move furniture and equipment as required.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and compliance checks.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, facilities or premises role.
- Good practical skills covering basic repairs and maintenance.
- Knowledge of health & safety procedures and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A flexible, reliable and proactive approach.
- Basic IT literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
