Contract: Permanent, Part-Time
Join Our Warm and Supportive Family at Holmwood House Care Centre
Holmwood House Care Centre, proudly part of Holmwood Holdings, is a welcoming 60-bed nursing home located in Swaffham, Norfolk. We are committed to providing exceptional care, comfort, and support to our residents, creating a homely environment where people feel valued, respected, and cared for.
We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and confident Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone seeking part-time work, including parents, semi-retired individuals, students, or anyone looking for a rewarding role within a supportive care environment.
Job Opportunity
This is an important role within our home, ensuring residents receive a nutritious and enjoyable evening meal.
The main meal preparation will be completed by the daytime cook; however, you will be responsible for managing the kitchen independently during the tea-time service. Confidence working alone in a kitchen environment is therefore essential.
You will be supported by an experienced kitchen and care team and provided with full training, but you should feel comfortable serving meals, carrying out light food preparation, and ensuring the kitchen remains clean, organised, and compliant with food hygiene standards.
What You'll Be Doing
- Serving evening meals and refreshments to residents.
- Preparing light meals, snacks, desserts, and beverages as required.
- Following individual dietary requirements and special diets.
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
- Washing up and ensuring all kitchen equipment is cleaned and stored correctly.
- Completing food safety records and daily checks.
- Supporting the smooth running of the kitchen during the tea-time service.
- Creating a positive dining experience for residents.
Essential Skills
We are looking for someone who is:
- Confident working independently and taking responsibility for the kitchen during the evening shift.
- Organised, reliable, and able to work efficiently.
- Comfortable carrying out light cooking and food preparation tasks.
- Experienced in a kitchen, catering, hospitality, or food service environment (preferred but not essential).
- Knowledgeable about food hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- Friendly, approachable, and able to communicate well with residents and colleagues.
- Passionate about providing excellent service and enhancing residents' quality of life.
Benefits You'll Enjoy
- Competitive pay.
- Permanent contract with guaranteed hours.
- Free uniform.
- Fully funded Enhanced DBS check.
- Complimentary meals during shifts.
- Free employee counselling and wellbeing support.
- Company pension scheme.
- Ongoing training and development opportunities.
- Blue Light Card eligibility.
Why Join Holmwood House?
At Holmwood House, mealtimes are an important part of our residents' day. You'll play a key role in creating a warm, welcoming, and enjoyable dining experience while working within a supportive and friendly team.
If you enjoy working with people, take pride in preparing and serving good food, and are looking for a rewarding part-time role, we would love to hear from you.
