We're looking for a Chaperone to support the safety and welfare of our Choristers and Probationers while they are rehearsing in the Cathedral.
About the role
Part time, 10 hours per week during Chorister term-time
As Chaperone to the Choristers and Probationers, you will;
- attend rehearsals in the Choir Practice Rooms, moving between activities taking place in the various rooms, when necessary, being available 10 minutes before and after the rehearsal;
- accompany the Choristers and Probationers on their journey from the Cathedral to the School after rehearsals (with Music Department staff);
- attend one Evensong service per week at which the Choristers are singing;
- be available to support the Choristers undertaking duties at times of national importance. These can occur unexpectedly and sometimes during the school holidays;
- ensure that Choristers are properly dressed and tidy prior to services;
- attend one meal per week in School – breakfast/dinner/Sunday lunch.
- attend a team meeting once per half term.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is warm, reliable and confident working with young people, and who will enjoy supporting the our musical mission while prioritising the protection and welfare of our youngest members.
This role could particularly suit someone looking for part-time work alongside study or other commitments in the City of London.
Ideally, you'll have:
- experience working with children or young people aged seven to 13, whether through schools, music, youth groups, sports coaching, tutoring, volunteering or similar settings;
- strong interpersonal skills, good judgement and the ability to remain calm and organised in a busy environment;
- an understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children and young people;
- flexibility and reliability, with the ability to build positive professional relationships with choristers and colleagues.
The successful candidate will need to undertake an Enhanced DBS check with Barred Lists.

Please note that the Cathedral is open 365 days per year, therefore, there is a requirement for bank holiday working.
