Chief Financial Officer

Harper May is working with a founder-led media and events business that has built a strong platform across content production, live programming, and brand partnerships. The company operates across the UK and Europe with growing international reach, supported by a lean, entrepreneurial leadership team. Recent investment has accelerated growth in new verticals and commercial channels, and with that expansion comes the need for more sophisticated financial infrastructure and strategic oversight. The business is now seeking a Chief Financial Officer to build and lead the finance function at board level.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO and sitting on the executive team, the Chief Financial Officer will take full ownership of financial planning, reporting, and business control across all divisions. This is a hands-on role that combines strategic financial direction with operational rigour-working with the leadership team to shape investment decisions, manage growth, and ensure governance and systems scale with the business.

  • Develop and own financial strategy, annual budgeting, and multi-year forecasting aligned to corporate priorities
  • Build and manage a high-performing finance team from the ground up, establishing processes and controls
  • Lead all financial reporting, statutory accounts, tax, and regulatory compliance activity
  • Support the CEO and Board with strategic insights on business performance, margin improvement, and capital allocation
  • Manage banking relationships, working capital, treasury, and cash flow across operating entities
  • Lead evaluation and financial due diligence on new ventures, partnerships, and acquisition opportunities
  • Establish robust financial controls and governance frameworks appropriate to a growing, multi-territory business

What we are looking for

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with significant senior finance leadership experience
  • Track record in media, entertainment, events, or similar project-led and commercially dynamic sectors
  • Strong financial accounting and control discipline with experience building finance infrastructure
  • Proven ability to partner with boards, senior executives, and external stakeholders
  • Commercial mindset-comfortable translating financial insight into business strategy and growth enablement
