Harper May is working with a multi-channel retail business operating across the UK and Europe. The group is mid-market in scale, founder-led, and has achieved consistent profitability over the past three years through disciplined operations and a loyal customer base. Recent investment in digital infrastructure and supply chain modernisation has strengthened the platform for the next phase of expansion. The business is now seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead financial planning and control as it scales.
The Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will own all aspects of financial management, strategy, and governance. This is a hands-on seat at the executive table, where you will partner with operations and commercial leaders to drive efficiency, manage capital, and support the group's retail estate expansion and e-commerce growth.
- Build and execute a three-year financial plan aligned with growth targets across channels and geographies
- Establish robust forecasting and reporting cadence to track performance against KPIs
- Oversee working capital management, inventory valuation, and cash flow optimisation across the supply chain
- Lead financial controls, audit liaison, and compliance with statutory and tax obligations
- Manage the finance function and recruit capability as the business scales
- Provide strategic counsel on store investment, acquisition, and technology spend decisions
- Challenge margin assumptions and drive operational efficiency across all trading formats
What we are looking for
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with CFO or senior FD experience in retail or consumer business
- Hands-on track record in multi-site operational environments with inventory and cash discipline
- Commercial mindset-you understand retail unit economics and margin drivers
- Comfortable with technology and systems; able to drive financial reporting maturity
- Board presence and the ability to influence without authority
- Appetite to roll up sleeves and mentor a growing finance team
