Child & Family/Nursery Practitioner (South Greenwich – Kidbrooke & Eltham)
GLL is seeking an enthusiastic and multi-talented Child & Family/Nursery Practitioner to join our Children’s Centre teams across South Greenwich, covering Kidbrooke and Eltham.

The Basics
- Role: Child & Family/Nursery Practitioner
- Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Occasional work: Some Saturdays for open days
- Contract: Term time only
- Pay: £14.80 per hour
The Role
As a Child & Family/Nursery Practitioner, you will work across both nursery settings and Children’s Centres, giving you a varied and rewarding role. You will help create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment for children under five while supporting local families through engaging programmes and activities.
This role offers the best of both worlds—combining nursery practice with community-based family support.
You will:
- Support children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development
- Plan and deliver activities tailored to individual needs
- Encourage independence, confidence, and curiosity
- Work closely with colleagues and partner agencies to deliver accessible, inclusive services
What You’ll Do
- Plan and deliver engaging EYFS-based activities for children of different ages and stages
- Observe, assess, and support children’s development through effective record-keeping
- Build positive relationships with parents/carers through regular communication
- Support children from diverse backgrounds, including those with English as an additional language
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
- Supervise children indoors, outdoors, and on outings, ensuring safeguarding at all times
What You’ll Need
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare/Child Development (or equivalent)
- Experience working with children under five and their families
- Strong understanding of EYFS, safeguarding, and child protection
- Knowledge of Ofsted Children’s Centre requirements
- Experience of play-based learning approaches
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- A positive, proactive team-focused approach
