About the Role
Middlesbrough Council is looking for a passionate and dedicated Social Worker to join their Children with Disabilities (CWD) Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of children and young people with complex needs, ensuring they receive the support, advocacy, and protection they deserve.

Key Responsibilities

Case Management: Manage a complex caseload involving children and young people with severe and enduring disabilities.

Assessments: Undertake comprehensive Child and Family Assessments to identify needs and implement effective care plans.

Safeguarding: Manage Child Protection and Children in Need plans, ensuring risk is effectively assessed and mitigated.

Collaboration: Work closely with health professionals, education providers, and occupational therapists to deliver holistic support.

Advocacy: Act as a strong voice for children with disabilities, promoting independence and ensuring their views are heard.
Requirements

A degree in Social Work (BA, BSc, DipSW, or equivalent).

Active registration with Social Work England.

Demonstrable experience working within a Children with Disabilities or frontline Children's Services team.

Strong understanding of relevant legislation (Children Act 1989/2004, Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act).

Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with non-verbal or communicatively impaired children.

Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for community visits.
