Role Overview

We are seeking a passionate, nurturing, and creative EYFS Teacher to join a welcoming and community-focused primary school on a fixed-term basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality early years education, ensuring all pupils are engaged, supported, and encouraged to achieve their full potential within a safe and stimulating learning environment.

This role would suit a practitioner with a strong understanding of early childhood development and a commitment to inclusive, child-centred learning.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons in line with the EYFS Framework
  • Create a stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environment that fosters curiosity, independence, and exploration
  • Adapt teaching to meet the individual needs of all pupils, including those with SEND and EAL
  • Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, maintaining accurate and up-to-date observations
  • Use assessment effectively to inform planning and next steps in learning

Classroom Management

  • Establish a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
  • Promote high standards of behaviour in line with school policies
  • Foster strong relationships with children to support their emotional and social development

Pastoral and Safeguarding Responsibilities

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children in line with statutory guidance
  • Support pupils’ wellbeing, personal development, and readiness for learning
  • Maintain a vigilant approach to safeguarding concerns and follow procedures correctly

Partnership Working

  • Build positive relationships with parents and carers, sharing information about children’s progress and wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, teaching assistants, and external professionals
  • Contribute to team planning and wider school life during the duration of the contract

Person Specification

Essential

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching within EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage)
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS statutory framework
  • Ability to create an engaging, inclusive, and structured learning environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting child welfare

Desirable

  • Experience working in a faith-based or values-led school setting
  • Knowledge of early phonics programmes
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs

Personal Qualities

  • Warm, enthusiastic, and approachable manner
  • Strong organisational skills and flexibility
  • Reflective practitioner with a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Commitment to fostering a caring and respectful school ethos
