Permanent position. This is a Hybrid working (3 days in the company's Didcot office & 2 days at Home). Flexible Start and Finish times available.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of up to four clients, acting as their primary point of contact for accounting and financial matters.
- Build strong, long-term client relationships and develop a detailed understanding of each client’s operations.
- Act as a trusted business partner by providing practical accounting support and resolving client queries.
- Prepare year-end statutory accounts from initial records through to completion.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts, rather than solely reviewing accounts prepared by others.
- Investigate accounting discrepancies and ensure records are complete and accurate.
- Support clients with budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
- Review bookkeeping records and ensure transactions have been recorded correctly.
- Monitor incoming and outgoing payments and support effective cash-flow management.
- Process and review supplier invoices, accounts payable information and payment records.
- Prepare or review VAT returns and ensure submissions are completed accurately.
- Support compliance with relevant HMRC and Companies House filing requirements.
- Work closely with clients to identify problems and provide appropriate financial solutions.
- Support and review the work of junior accountants and graduates.
- Assist junior colleagues with accounting processes and professional examinations where required.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within an accountancy practice, client accounting, industry finance or a similar role.
- Hands-on experience preparing statutory accounts and management accounts from start to finish.
- Strong understanding of the full accounting cycle.
- Experience investigating discrepancies and producing accurate financial information.
- Previous exposure to budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
- Strong bookkeeping knowledge, including cash-flow records, supplier invoices and VAT.
- Experience managing client or stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to explain accounting information clearly to clients and non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving, organisational and communication skills.
- Confidence managing multiple responsibilities and client deadlines.
- Experience supporting or reviewing the work of junior colleagues would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of HMRC and Companies House filing requirements would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Currently studying towards, or keen to begin, a recognised accountancy qualification.
- Candidates studying ACCA, CIMA, ATI or AAT will be considered, although the successful candidate will be supported towards completing ACCA.
