About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Gas Engineer to support our commercial gas team delivering high-quality repairs, servicing, and compliance works across Harlow City Council plant rooms. You will ensure safety and regulatory compliance and maintain excellent service standards for our client.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, service, maintain, and repair commercial gas appliances and heating systems within plant room environments.
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on boilers, burners, pumps, pressurisation units, and associated equipment.
* Diagnose and rectify faults on commercial gas, heating, and hot water systems.
* Conduct safety inspections and ensure all gas installations comply with current regulations and industry standards.
* Perform combustion analysis, gas tightness testing, and system commissioning activities.
* Maintain and repair associated mechanical plant, including valves, pipework, expansion vessels, and controls.
* Monitor plant room performance and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and reliability.
* Complete servicing reports, maintenance records, and certification accurately and in a timely manner.
* Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide effective fault-finding solutions to minimise downtime.
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
* Support the installation and upgrade of commercial heating systems and plant room equipment.
* Carry out system flushing, water treatment checks, and balancing activities where required.
* Maintain stock levels of parts and materials and ensure company vehicles are kept organised and compliant.
* Provide technical advice and recommendations for plant room improvements and lifecycle replacement projects.

* CCN1 – Core Domestic Gas Safety
* CENWAT – Central Heating Boilers & Water Heaters
* CKR1 – Domestic Cookers
* HTR1 – Gas Fires & Wall Heaters
* CODNC01 – Changeover Domestic, Commercial NG
* CORT1 – Overhead Radiant Heater
* CIGA1 – Indirect Fired Commercial Appliances
* ICPN1 – Installation Commercial Pipework
* TPCP1A – Testing & Purging of Pipework 1m3
* Proven experience in domestic gas engineering within social housing
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Supervisory Experience within a repairs / maintenance environment
* G3 – Unvented Hot Water Systems
* Strong understanding of social housing compliance
* CDMA1, Inspection Carbon Monoxide
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Ability to manage workloads, deadlines, and engineer performance
