The Legists
Commercial Litigation Solicitor (Partner) | Birmingham | £Competitive – JOB REF:4243.
THE FIRM Our client is a highly respected UK law firm with an established reputation for handling complex and high-value disputes for a diverse client base ranging from owner-managed businesses and high-growth companies to major corporates, financial institutions, and public sector organisations. The firm has invested heavily in its Birmingham office and sees commercial disputes as a key strategic growth area. With strong relationships across corporate, real estate, banking, employment, and private wealth teams, there is a significant opportunity for an incoming partner to leverage existing connections and build upon an already successful platform. The partnership is known for its collaborative culture, entrepreneurial mindset, and willingness to invest in ambitious lateral hires who can contribute to the firm's long-term growth strategy.
THE ROLE The firm is seeking a Commercial Litigation Partner to play a leading role in the continued expansion of its disputes practice in Birmingham and across the wider Midlands market. This appointment offers the opportunity to take ownership of a broad commercial litigation practice, advising clients on complex contractual disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes, professional negligence claims, business protection matters, fraud and asset recovery issues, and other high-value commercial conflicts. The successful individual will work alongside an established team while helping to drive business development initiatives, strengthen market presence, and identify opportunities for growth across existing and new client relationships. This is a strategic appointment with genuine scope to influence the direction of the practice and play a key role within the wider partnership.
THE CANDIDATE Applications are welcomed from established Commercial Litigation Partners as well as ambitious Legal Directors, Counsel, or Senior Associates with a credible partnership business case. The ideal candidate will possess: • Strong technical expertise across a broad range of commercial disputes. • Experience acting for corporate clients, business owners, and other key stakeholders. • A proven track record of developing and maintaining client relationships. • Demonstrable business development experience and commercial awareness. • Strong leadership and team management capabilities. • The ambition to help grow and shape a successful disputes practice. While a portable following would be advantageous, the firm is equally interested in individuals who can demonstrate a clear strategy for developing a practice within a supportive and well-resourced environment.
Why Consider This Opportunity? • Strategic growth appointment with significant partner support. • Access to high-quality national and regional clients. • Strong cross-referral opportunities from complementary practice areas. • Collaborative and commercially focused partnership culture. • Competitive remuneration and performance-based rewards. • Genuine influence over the future direction of the disputes practice.
