Are you an experienced Compliance Assistant looking for your next challenge? I'm currently working on an exciting opportunity with a Legal 500 firm based in Birmingham.
This is a fantastic chance to join a growing compliance team during a period of expansion. The firm offers a collaborative and supportive working environment, regular team social events, and a strong commitment to learning and professional development.
In this role, you'll work closely with fee earners and wider business teams to support client onboarding, ensuring high standards of accuracy and regulatory compliance are maintained. You'll gain valuable exposure to a broad range of compliance processes, with clear opportunities for long-term career progression within a well-established and highly regarded legal practice.
Responsibilities include:
- Support fee earners with client onboarding and new matter creation
- Carry out conflict checks, AML checks, and ID verification
- Conduct national and international searches as required
- Set up and maintain new client and matter records within the case management system
- Ensure all records are accurate, complete, and compliant with regulatory standards
- Monitor onboarding workflows, chasing outstanding actions and ensuring deadlines are met
- Respond to internal and client queries in a timely and professional manner
- Assist in producing onboarding guidance and improving internal processes
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm to ensure smooth delivery
About you:
- Previous experience in a similar role within legal or professional services (or transferable experience from finance/banking compliance environments)
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities
- Proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to take ownership of tasks
