Maze Recruitment Services Limited
POSITION: COMPLIANCE MANAGER – PART-TIME 30 HRS
(Newly Created role)
SALARY: £45,000 – £55,000 pro Rata (£33750 – £41250)
LOCATION: St Albans – Multi-site / Group role /Flexible working available
About the Role
We are looking for a Compliance Manager to take ownership of building, shaping, and embedding a robust compliance and governance framework across a growing multi-site business.
This is a hands-on, build-focused role, not a traditional audit or monitoring position. You will be responsible for designing practical controls, improving processes, and ensuring regulatory requirements are effectively embedded across operational teams.
You will act as the key link between regulation, operational delivery, and senior leadership—ensuring compliance is not only understood but actively embedded across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review current processes and identify compliance gaps across multiple teams and locations
- Design and implement new controls, policies, and procedures aligned with regulatory requirements
- Building reporting frameworks and compliance metrics for senior leadership
- Work across operational, sales, and support teams to embed consistent ways of working
- Influence and engage stakeholders at all levels to ensure buy-in and adherence
- Support ongoing monitoring, audit readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide a clear interpretation of regulatory and legislative requirements and translate them into business practice
- Influencing stakeholders without direct line management authority
About You:
We are open to background and experience, but the successful candidate will likely bring:
- Experience in compliance, governance, risk, or regulated environments
- Proven experience designing or improving processes and controls (not just working within them)
- Ability to interpret regulations and turn it into practical business applications
- Experience reporting to senior leadership or board-level stakeholders
- Confident stakeholder management across different levels of seniority
- An operational mindset – someone who builds, improves, and embeds, not just audits
This role would suit someone who enjoys shaping how compliance actually works in a business rather than simply checking it.
What We’re Looking For (Important):
This role will NOT suit someone who is purely focused on audit activity or only has experience following established procedures.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Build frameworks, not just follow them
- Influence behaviour across a diverse organisation
- Translate regulation into practical, operational outcomes
- Take ownership of a developing compliance function
Why This Role?
- Newly created position with genuine scope to shape how compliance operates across the group
- High visibility with senior leadership
- Opportunity to build something from the ground up
- Broad, varied role across multiple teams and sites
What’s in it for you?
- Flexible working arrangements (4 or 5-day working week options)
- The opportunity to shape and develop a newly created Group Compliance function
- Ongoing professional development and training support
- A key role with visibility and influence at the senior management level
- Join a well-established and growing organisation
- Free on-site parking
