Spectrum IT are seeking an experienced UX/UI Designer to support the redesign and modernisation of a business-critical B2B customer portal for a well-established UK organisation undergoing a significant digital transformation programme. This will be an onsite working role in Poole, Dorset, and has been deemed OUTSIDE IR35.
The successful contractor will work closely with senior stakeholders, product and technology teams to define user journeys, facilitate workshops, and produce high-quality designs that will guide the development of a new customer-facing platform. This is an excellent opportunity to shape the user experience of a core revenue-generating product from discovery through to delivery.
Project Overview
The organisation is replacing a legacy customer portal with a modern web application built using Angular and integrated with existing backend APIs. The platform is used by business customers to search, purchase and manage products online via account-based access.
The new solution will initially focus on a streamlined set of core user journeys, including:
- Login and authentication
- Product search
- Search results
- Product detail pages
- Customer account management
- Basket management
- Checkout process
The goal is to create a modern, intuitive user experience aligned with the organisation's recently redesigned corporate website and wider digital strategy.
Responsibilities
- Lead UX discovery activities and stakeholder workshops
- Map existing and future-state user journeys
- Produce wireframes, user flows and prototypes
- Create high-fidelity UI designs for a modern web application
- Collaborate with Product, Marketing and Technology stakeholders
- Ensure consistency between the portal and wider digital brand experience
- Work closely with front-end and full-stack developers during implementation
- Translate business requirements into intuitive user experiences
- Identify opportunities to improve usability, accessibility and customer engagement
- Support ongoing enhancement and feature design throughout the project life cycle
Required Experience
- Proven experience delivering UX/UI design for web-based applications
- Strong understanding of user-centred design principles
- Experience facilitating workshops and gathering requirements from stakeholders
- Ability to create user journeys, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX and UI design work
- Experience collaborating closely with software development teams
Desirable Experience
- Experience designing B2B platforms, portals or eCommerce applications
- Familiarity with Angular-based development environments
- Experience designing transactional customer journeys
- Understanding of accessibility best practices
- Experience working on platform modernisation or digital transformation programmes
Tools
- Figma
- General design tooling – alternative design tools will be considered a bonus
- using modern prototyping and collaboration tools
