Conveyancing Assistant / Legal Secretary – Ferndown-up to £30000
We are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary / Conveyancing Assistant to join a busy residential conveyancing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with prior conveyancing experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and professional environment.
You will provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to fee earners, assisting with a varied caseload of residential property transactions from instruction through to post-completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing full secretarial and administrative support within residential conveyancing
- Audio typing and preparation of legal documentation using digital dictation
- Drafting correspondence and ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant
- Supporting fee earners with residential conveyancing transactions including sales, purchases, remortgages, and transfers of equity
- Liaising with clients, estate agents, lenders and third parties
- Managing diaries, appointments, and general administrative duties
- Opening, maintaining, and closing client files accurately
- Handling post-completion work including SDLT submissions and Land Registry applications
- Preparing completion statements and assisting with completions
- Using case management systems to maintain accurate and up-to-date records
Requirements
- 1-2 years' experience in a conveyancing or legal secretarial role
- Strong understanding of the residential conveyancing process
- Experience with post-completion work (including Land Registry applications) desirable
- Fast and accurate audio typing (minimum 40 wpm)
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Confident using Microsoft Office and case management systems (LEAP/InfoTrack desirable)
