THE ROLE: This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Conveyancing & Private Client Solicitor to join a reputable legal practice in a senior leadership capacity. The role has arisen to provide maternity cover for the Partner and Head of Department and offers the successful candidate the opportunity to take ownership of an established and successful team.
You will assume responsibility as Head of Conveyancing for the purposes of the Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS), maintaining the firm's accreditation and lender panel memberships whilst ensuring the highest standards of quality assurance and regulatory compliance across all conveyancing transactions.
The successful candidate will manage a caseload predominantly focused on residential and commercial conveyancing matters, including sales, purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity and commercial leases. Whilst private client work forms a smaller proportion of the caseload, you will also provide oversight and supervision of matters relating to wills, probate, trusts and estate planning undertaken by other members of the team.
You will contribute to business planning, procedural development and the continued delivery of commercially focused, client-centred legal services. The role also involves developing and maintaining internal policies and procedures in accordance with SRA guidance and the Conveyancing Protocol.
THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate will be a qualified Solicitor with a minimum of three years' PQE and a current practising certificate recognised in England and Wales. You will possess proven experience handling residential and commercial conveyancing matters and be confident managing complex transactions from instruction through to completion.
Applicants should have previous supervisory or management experience, together with the ability to mentor and support other fee earners within a busy legal department. Strong organisational and time management skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities whilst maintaining exceptional standards of client care.
You will be proficient in the use of legal IT systems, including case management and document management software, and possess a thorough understanding of regulatory compliance requirements within a modern legal practice. Experience of maintaining CQS accreditation and managing lender panel relationships would be highly advantageous.
THE PACKAGE: This position is initially offered as a fixed-term contract for 9–12 months to cover maternity leave, with a negotiable start date and the potential for a permanent opportunity in the longer term.
The role offers a salary of £30,000 to £55,000 dependent upon experience, together with a company pension scheme and free on-site parking. Whilst the position is based in Lincolnshire, hybrid working arrangements will be considered for the successful candidate.
Working hours are 8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, with one hour for lunch. The successful candidate will also be expected to devote such additional time as may be necessary to meet the needs of the business.
