Corporate Senior Associate

Robert Walters

We're working with a national firm expanding its Corporate team in Birmingham. They're looking for a solicitor ready for more responsibility and ready to be recognised for it.

What makes this worth a conversation: a genuinely structured path to partnership, realistically around two years away for the right person. Not a vague promise, but a clear process based on what you actually deliver.

What you'll do:

As a Corporate Senior Associate based in Birmingham, you will immerse yourself in a wide variety of corporate matters that span multiple industries.

You'd be running your own transactions from M&A, private equity, joint ventures and reorganisations with real ownership, not just supporting a partner's caseload. As the team grows, so does the opportunity to build your own client relationships and shape how the practice develops locally.

  • Take ownership of a diverse portfolio of corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, exits, equity capital markets transactions, joint ventures, and reorganisations.

  • Mentor and support junior members of the team by providing guidance on legal matters as well as professional development.

  • Work closely with partners on complex or high-value deals while also managing your own caseload independently.

  • Build and nurture relationships with clients by delivering practical commercial advice tailored to their needs across various sectors such as manufacturing, retail, recruitment, and education.

  • Actively engage in networking activities to develop new connections within the local corporate finance market and contribute to business development initiatives.

Why it might suit you:

If you're currently in a larger team where progression feels slow or uncertain this is a genuine alternative. Growing teams need people to step up quickly, and this firm has designed its process around exactly that. You'll still get the things that matter: hybrid working, solid technical and BD support, and a firm with a strong reputation for training and development. But the real draw is the timeline and the transparency around it.

What you bring:

  • At least 5 years' post-qualification experience handling a broad spectrum of corporate legal matters within a reputable private practice

  • Demonstrable technical expertise in areas such as mergers & acquisitions, private equity investments, exits, joint ventures, equity capital markets transactions, or reorganisations.A proven ability to manage transactions independently as well as collaboratively alongside partners on more complex assignments.Experience mentoring or supervising junior lawyers with a genuine interest in supporting their professional growth.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to build rapport with clients from diverse sectors including manufacturing, retail, recruitment, education, and more.

  • Willingness to actively participate in business development activities such as networking events or cross-selling services.

What sets this company apart:

This organisation stands out for its unwavering dedication to employee growth and well-being.
