Description
- Maintaining and developing standard costing models across materials, labour, and overheads
- Producing accurate product costing and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) analysis
- Delivering detailed monthly variance analysis, including price, usage, labour, and overhead variances
- Investigating variances and working with operational teams to implement corrective actions
- Managing inventory valuation for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
- Supporting stock counts, reconciliations, and identifying obsolete or slow-moving stock
- Partnering with production and operations teams to improve efficiency, utilisation, waste reduction, and cost control
- Analysing product and customer profitability, highlighting margin improvement opportunities
- Supporting pricing decisions with accurate costing information
- Maintaining costing data within ERP systems and driving process improvements
- Producing management reports covering cost performance, inventory movements, and manufacturing KPIs
- Supporting internal controls, compliance requirements, and audit processes
Profile
A successful Cost Accountant should have:
- A recognised qualification in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in cost accounting.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using financial software and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with various teams.
