Court of Protection Secretary / Administrator

A leading Court of Protection team is seeking a proactive and detail-driven Secretary to provide high-quality administrative support. You’ll be joining a supportive, collaborative department where your work genuinely makes a difference.
About the Firm
The firm specialises in representing vulnerable individuals, particularly those who may lack capacity or are detained under the Mental Health Act. Their Court of Protection work includes welfare and financial proceedings, deputyship matters, and supporting clients and families through complex and sensitive situations. They also provide training to professionals across the legal, health, and social care sectors.
This is a fully office-based role.
The Role
As Court of Protection Secretary, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the department. Responsibilities include:
- Audio typing and preparing legal correspondence and documents
- Opening files and preparing matters for billing
- Liaising professionally with clients, experts, and third parties
- Taking accurate messages and managing time recording
- Diary management and coordinating appointments and solicitor visits
- Managing emails and documents using the case management system
- Assisting with new enquiries and prospective matters
- General administrative duties, including scanning, photocopying and filing
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Confident typing and document production skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and basic Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Professional, approachable manner
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, proactive, and keen to learn
- Discreet and trustworthy with confidential information
Desirable:
- Previous secretarial or administrative experience
