We are seeking a confident and committed Cover Supervisor to join our dedicated team within a Secondary Pupil Referral Unit. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with students who require additional support to re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-planned lessons across a broad and varied curriculum, ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of teaching staff. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across a range of subjects and able to quickly establish positive, productive learning environments.
A key aspect of this role is the ability to effectively manage behaviour. Our students may present with social, emotional and behavioural needs, so we are looking for someone who can build strong relationships, remain calm under pressure, set clear boundaries, and consistently apply behaviour strategies to support engagement and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and deliver lessons across a mixed secondary curriculum using prepared resources.
- Maintain a positive, safe, and structured learning environment.
- Manage student behaviour effectively, using restorative and trauma-informed approaches where appropriate.
- Support students to remain engaged with learning and achieve their individual targets.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and senior leaders to support student progress.
- Record attendance, behaviour, and lesson outcomes accurately.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with secondary-aged students, particularly those with behavioural, emotional, or additional learning needs.
- Experience delivering the UK Curriculum
- Strong behaviour management skills and the confidence to lead groups independently.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Flexibility and willingness to cover a wide range of curriculum areas.
- Resilience, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable young people.
- A positive, solution-focused approach to challenges.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
