Senior Credit Controller Ware, Hertfordshire Hybrid
Permanent, Full Time £30,000 — £35,000 depending on experience
The opportunity
A growing services business based in Ware is looking for an experienced Senior Credit Controller to take real ownership of a high-volume B2B ledger. This is a role where your expertise will be visible, your judgement will be trusted and your contribution to the finance function will genuinely matter.
If you have a strong grounding in B2B credit control, a solid understanding of Direct Debit and BACS processes and a track record of keeping complex ledgers in good shape, this is a role worth exploring.
What you will be doing
- Taking full ownership of your allocated ledger, driving collections and delivering measurable improvements in aged debt
- Managing the complete Direct Debit process including changes, failures, reinstatements and BACS compliance
- Handling customer challenges to DD authority confidently, supported by accurate documentation
- Investigating and resolving disputes efficiently, working collaboratively with Sales, Operations and Billing
- Building strong customer relationships while managing outstanding balances professionally
- Allocating cash accurately, reconciling unallocated receipts and managing BACS reports on a daily basis
- Navigating customer billing portals to submit invoices and resolve queries
- Assessing credit risk proactively across your ledger and making clear, well-reasoned recommendations
- Supporting the Credit Control Manager on process automation and continuous improvement initiatives
What we are looking for
- Solid B2B credit control experience gained in a high-volume environment
- Strong working knowledge of the Direct Debit process and BACS scheme rules
- Proven ability to manage complex disputes across multiple service lines
- A confident, professional communicator and firm when needed but always relationship-focused
- Highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to manage your own workload under pressure
- A genuine interest in process improvement and making things work better
