An established and highly regarded criminal defence firm in London is seeking a Criminal Defence Lawyer to join its experienced team.
The firm is known for its specialist criminal defence work across London and the South East, acting for clients in a wide range of matters from initial police station advice through to serious and complex Crown Court proceedings. With a large team of experienced criminal defence lawyers and higher court advocates, the firm offers an excellent environment for a lawyer looking to develop their criminal practice.
The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload, provide clear and strategic advice to clients and work closely with colleagues across the firm on more serious and complex matters.
The role will involve:
- Managing a caseload of criminal defence matters from instruction to conclusion
- Advising and representing clients at the police station and court
- Preparing cases for Magistrates' Court and Crown Court proceedings
- Liaising with counsel, experts, courts and external agencies
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Supporting junior members of the team where required
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in criminal defence work
- Strong client care and case management skills
- Confidence handling matters independently
- Excellent communication, drafting and advocacy skills
- Police station accreditation would be advantageous
- Duty solicitor status would also be beneficial, but is not essential
