Defendant EL, PL, And Casualty Solicitor – Local Government |  Leicester 1 Year PQE +

What if your next move gave you the opportunity to work on a genuinely varied defendant litigation caseload, rather than handling the same type of file day after day?

This is an opportunity to join one of the UK's leading Local Government litigation teams, recognised for defending public sector organisations in complex and high-quality Employers' Liability, Public Liability and casualty claims. The team's greatest strength is the diversity of its work. You'll gain exposure to a broad range of litigation, allowing you to continually develop your technical expertise and avoid becoming pigeonholed into one particular area. If you're looking for a role where every week brings something different, this could be exactly what you've been searching for.

The Role

  • Manage a varied caseload of defendant personal injury matters, primarily Employers' Liability (EL), Public Liability (PL) and Highways claims.
  • Handle predominantly fast-track litigation, with the opportunity to work on multi-track matters depending on your experience.
  • Gain exposure to property damage, social care and data protection claims, broadening your litigation experience.
  • Conduct liability investigations and progress claims from inception through to resolution.
  • Liaise with clients, witnesses, experts, counsel, the courts and opposing solicitors.
  • Draft witness statements, legal documents and detailed reports.
  • Attend client meetings, conferences and court hearings where required.
  • Work collaboratively with experienced colleagues while taking ownership of your own files.
  • Support business development initiatives and help maintain strong client relationships.

Have you reached the stage in your career where you're looking for greater variety without sacrificing the quality of work? This role offers exactly that.

You

  • A qualified Solicitor with experience in defendant personal injury, casualty or insurance litigation.
  • Experience handling Employers' Liability, Public Liability and/or Highways claims.
  • Confident managing your own caseload.
  • A solid understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR).
  • Strong drafting, analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Organised, proactive and able to prioritise a busy workload.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • A genuine interest in developing a broad and varied defendant litigation practice.

Benefits

  • A genuinely diverse caseload with no risk of becoming restricted to one type of claim.
  • Exposure to EL, PL, Highways, property damage, social care and data protection litigation.
  • Opportunities to develop your technical expertise across multiple areas of defendant litigation.
  • High-quality work acting on behalf of public sector clients.
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent career progression and long-term development opportunities.
  • Exposure to both fast-track and multi-track litigation.
  • The chance to build a well-rounded litigation career within a nationally recognised specialist team.

If you're ready to take the next step in your defendant litigation career and want a role that offers genuine variety, high-quality work and outstanding long-term prospects, I'd love to tell you more.
