Tradewind Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Bolton, seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (Deputy DSL) to join their pastoral and safeguarding team as soon as possible.
This is an excellent opportunity for a committed safeguarding professional who is passionate about supporting young people and ensuring their welfare, safety and wellbeing within an educational setting.
The Role
As Deputy DSL, you will play a vital role in supporting the school's safeguarding provision and wider pastoral systems. Working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and senior leadership team, you will help to identify, assess and respond to safeguarding concerns, ensuring that all students receive the support they need to thrive both academically and personally.
Key responsibilities will include:

Supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead in managing safeguarding and child protection cases.

Liaising with external agencies, parents, carers and other professionals where appropriate.

Monitoring attendance, behaviour and wellbeing concerns.

Maintaining accurate safeguarding records and documentation.

Providing pastoral support to vulnerable students and those requiring additional intervention.

Contributing to safeguarding training, awareness and best practice across the school.

Supporting the school's commitment to creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment for all pupils.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have:

Previous experience working within a UK secondary school setting.

Experience in a pastoral, safeguarding, welfare or student support role.

A strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and child protection procedures.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-
The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, families and external agencies.

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

A commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of young people.
