Overview
Reed Education are recruiting for a Deputy Nursery Manager to support a well-established, independent nursery in Huddersfield. Operating since 1986, the nursery provides 62 places for children aged 3 months to 5 years, alongside an out-of-school and holiday club. The setting is based within a spacious four-floor Victorian building.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Room Leader or current Deputy looking to step into a more senior, visible leadership role.
The Role
As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Nursery Manager to ensure the smooth and effective running of the nursery.
Key Responsibilities
- Support with the day-to-day management of the nursery
- Take responsibility in the Manager’s absence
- Lead by example, maintaining high standards across all rooms
- Support staff development, including supervisions and training
- Assist with safeguarding, compliance, and Ofsted preparation
- Contribute to staffing, planning, and overall organisation
About You
We are looking for a proactive and capable individual with strong Early Years experience.
- Solid understanding of the EYFS framework
- Experience supporting or leading a team within a nursery setting
- Confident decision-maker with the ability to use initiative
- Collaborative approach, with the confidence to challenge where needed
- Holds a minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification
- Interest in or willingness to support SENCO responsibilities
Salary & Benefits
- £28,000 full-time (40 hours)
- Flexibility available (e.g. 32 hours pro rata ~ £22,500)
