Are you a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate looking to kick-start your engineering career? Do you have experience with SolidWorks and an interest in product development and design? If so, this could be the perfect role for you.

Our client, a well-established engineering and manufacturing business, is seeking a Development Engineer to join their team in East Sussex. The successful candidate will have a Mechanical Engineering degree, experience with product or industrial design, and a proactive approach to supporting the development of innovative products from concept through to manufacture.

Job Description

• Support the design and development of new products from concept through to manufacture using SolidWorks • Produce 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation • Assist with product testing, validation, and continuous improvement activities • Work closely with cross-functional teams to meet product development objectives and project milestones • Support prototype builds, evaluations, and design modifications based on test results and customer feedback • Participate in design reviews and contribute innovative ideas for product improvements • Liaise with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are suitable for production • Assist in maintaining engineering documentation, BOMs, and revision control • Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards and company quality procedures • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team

Essential Experience / Skills / Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline • Experience with product design or industrial design, gained through industry, placement, or university projects • Proficient in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and engineering drawings • Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes • Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive and hands-on approach • Strong communication and organisational skills • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team • Keen to develop technical knowledge and build a career within product development
