Platform Support Engineer
Central London (Hybrid – One day in the office every two weeks)
£50,000 per annum
Our client is looking for a Platform Support Engineer to join their growing technology team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone from a Linux Systems Administration, Infrastructure Support or Technical Operations background who enjoys troubleshooting issues and getting to the root cause of problems.
This is not a software development role. Instead, you'll be responsible for investigating infrastructure issues, monitoring alerts, analysing logs and helping to keep the company's platforms running smoothly.
What You'll Be Doing
- Monitoring and triaging infrastructure issues reported through support channels
- Investigating incidents within Linux environments using SSH and the command line
- Reviewing logs and system performance to identify root causes
- Escalating complex issues with clear documentation and context
- Contributing to runbooks and knowledge sharing
- Writing basic Bash scripts to automate repetitive tasks
- Working with technologies including Docker, Jenkins and GitHub Actions
What They're Looking For
Essential:
- Strong Linux experience and confidence working in the command line
- Experience troubleshooting using Unix tools and log files
- Familiarity with Docker or containerised environments
- Basic Bash scripting skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Desirable:
- Exposure to Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog or New Relic
- Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP
- Knowledge of YAML, Python or JavaScript
- Understanding of Linux security and networking
