Interim Director of Operations Adult Social Care
Based in Essex, hybrid working & Inside IR35
Length: 6 months
We’re seeking an interim Director of Operations Adult Social Care to manage the development and delivery of adult social care and be the key liaison with SLT, departmental staff, Cabinet and Portfolio Holder and partner organisations.
Key Responsibilities of the Director of Operations Adult Social Care:
- Provide expert advice to senior leaders, elected members, and partners on adult social care matters
- Establish and oversee service transformation programmes, including new models of care and service redesign initiatives
- Shape future service delivery, setting strategic priorities and driving innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement
- Develop strong partnerships across health, housing, voluntary, community, and private sectors to improve outcomes for residents
- Ensure services effectively support vulnerable adults, including those with complex, hard-to-reach, or atypical needs
- Lead financial planning, budget management, and performance monitoring across the service
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, safeguarding, and health and safety requirements
Skills, Experience and Knowledge required of the Director of Operations Adult Social Care:
- A recognised, relevant professional qualification e.g. a degree or diploma in social work or CQSW
- At least two years’ relevant experience in a middle management position with a record of measurable success
- Enhanced DBS clearance
