Electrical Design Engineer
Contract (to 01/03/2027)
Location: Abingdon, 3 days/week on site
IR35: In Scope
Rate: £55/hr Umbrella | £40.08/hr PAYE
Role Overview
Support design work on major fusion sub-systems from concept to detailed design, ensuring compliance, performance, and adherence to standards. Produce technical documentation, validate designs, and deliver work within project constraints.
Key Requirements
- Strong C&I and electrical engineering background
- Relevant engineering degree/HND/HNC or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of UK/EU electrical safety regulations
- Experience with BS EN 60204-1, machinery safety, and functional/process safety
- Proficient with AutoCAD/AutoCAD Lite
- Understanding of configuration control
- Ability to develop exploratory design concepts
- Strong design capability and knowledge of manufacturing techniques/materials
- Familiarity with electrical enclosure/control panel manufacturing
- Knowledge of drawing standards, especially BS EN 61082
- Strong communication and technical writing skills
Desirable
- Knowledge of BS 7671 (18th Edition)
- Experience with electrical CAD tools such as SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN, or AutoCAD Electrical
